Piero Gaddi jazz pianist and composer

He has both classical and jazz music education, he studies in Lucca, Siena, Bologna, Livorno reached classical and jazz diplomas (with highest marks). He plays with Ivan Mazuze, Mike Turk, Bjorn Vidar Solli, Flavio Boltro, Tom Lorenz, Paolino Dalla Porta, Paolo Fresu, Alessandro Fabbri, Fabio Morgera, Pietro Tonolo, Marco Micheli, Marco Tamburini, Scott Hamilton, Francesco Ponticelli, Bernardo Guerra, Raciel Torres, Ruben Chaviano, Helder Gonzaga, Alfred Kramer, Mirco Guerrini, Per and Hans Mathisen, Mikeal Godeé.

From 1998 leds and write for his “Inter Nos Quartet”. With the quartet plays in italian festivals and records two works “Por Rufina Amaya” and “Figure sullo sfondo”. From 2004 he plays in Sicily for Yamaha Italia, in Cannes and two times in Monaco di Baviera. He plays with the cuban violinist Ruben Chaviano both original and traditional music from southamerica, influenced by classical and jazz music. In 2005 founded the jazz-gospel chorus “Jubilum Jazz Chorus”. With them won the First Prize at International Music Competition of Asti in 2012 and also the First Prize in Piombino “Riviera Etrusca” in 2017. With JJC he records for Vinile “Amazing Grace” and “Jubilum Jazz Christmas”. With Fabrizio Desideri and Paolino Dalla Porta founded a trio in 2008 and play in national festivals. In 2014 is one of the founders of C.R.I.G., a jazz group that deals with Popular music from Garfagnana, playing in some italian festivals and recording a Cd with a book published from “Effigi”.

He plays in duo with Fabrizio Desideri arranging latinjazz music in this project called “Por una cabeza”. In 2018 he forms the Desideri-Gaddi quartet which also includes Francesco Petreni and Filippo Pedol and plays in various festivals (“Mutazioni” and “Musica nelle Apuane”). He plays in the Italian quartet of Ivan Mazuze with Francesco Ponticelli and Bernardo Guerra in the summer of 2019 and in 2023. In December 2019 he was invited to play in Africa at the “Mozambique Music Meeting” in Maputo with the African quintet of saxophonist Ivan Mazuze.

In 2020 he founded the Piero Gaddi Quartet with which he plays original music (with F. Desideri, F. Pedol, A. Beninati). With the group in the same year he made his debut at Pisa Jazz and recorded “Opus One” (Vinyl Records) hosting the Norwegian guitarist Bjorn Solli. He plays with his quartet with Solli as a guest in some jazz festivals including “Spejazz” 2020, jazz festival in La Spezia, in Montevarchi at the “Terre d’Arezzo” festival, in Trento in “Trentino jazz” festival.

In 2022 he played in Bydgoszcz in Poland with a Polish group invited by Akademia Muzyczna. With his quintet he played at the Italian Culture Institute in Oslo. He played with Paolo Fresu with San Gennaro Filarmonic in 2023. In april 2023 played in Drammen teather (Norway) with Per and Hans Mathisen, Guy Sion And Raciel Torres. In the the same year was invited to play at Conservatory of La Coruña with Roberto Somoza. In 2024 plays and teaches in Cina in Zhang Zhou e a Xi’an and returned in 2025 for a 11 dates tour in Xi’an, Chendu, Changsha, Hangzhou, playing his music in trio.

With his quartet plus Solli recorded the album “Opus two” in 2024 released by “Nusica.org” and presented at “Sile Jazz” in Veneto and a “I.A.M. Festival” in Tuscany. Then he founded a new trio that uses also electronics with the flutist Emilio Galante and the Swedish soprano sax Mikael Godeé that debuts in “Trentino jazz” and releases a new recording for Sonata Island. He also played in acoustic duo with Mikael Godeé. From 2025 he starts to play his repertoire in trio with Michele Vannucci and Filippo Pedol in some Italian festivals. He taught jazz piano for 5 years at “Luigi Boccherini” Conservatory of Lucca; from 2008 teaches piano jazz at Livorno “Pietro Mascagni” Conservatory. From 2014 at La Spezia Conservatory leading for six years the jazz department.
